Irish bands in Midlands - UKThe Ringerike Folk & Ceilidh Band
Ringerike - Midlands Irish bandsOur folk bands plays Irish folk music, Scottish folk music, English folk music for listening and dancing in and around Midlands. We are no ordinary Irish band. As classically trained musicians, we put the music into folk. With such a wide repertoire we can put on specific Irish, or Scottish events, or play a wide range of national and international music. You define the style of event you want our folk bands to play - folk music ranges from some of the most moving and lyrical music in existence to wild, raucous and steamy. We love it all! Irish bands for weddings in MidlandsOur Irish bands specialise in playing folk music for the evening entertainment at weddings in many of the most prestigious venues in Midlands. It is becoming a popular and more sociable alternative to the disco. All ages can take part, and it makes both sides of the family and friends mix. The good relationship that can take years to develop between in-laws can be forged in just one evening. We are a versatile folk and ceilidh band, with roots in both the folk tradition and classical training. This removes restrictions in style and range, so that we can bring you Irish, Scottish, English or Overseas music to make your wedding day even more memorable. Music for parties, clubs and fund raising events in MidlandsWhy not consider hiring our folk band for a ceilidh for your party, club or school or society fund raising event anywhere in Midlands. Not many things can get everyone to 'let their hair down' in the same way as the traditional folk music ceilidh. When you have put on a ceilidh once, you will want to do it again and again. We are a Midlands and Herefordshire based folk band, drawing from the long traditions of folk music in these counties. Though none of us are Irish by birth, the fiddler has played at international folk festivals for Irish dance teams, including Tony O'Sulivan's, and is steeped in the drive and complexities of the Irish idiom. He has also lived for 14 years by Glasgow, an area rich in Irish traditions and music. Our flute and piccolo player has a background in the Celtic tradition, with connections with Scotland and relatives who have had published folk tunes dedicated to them. Even our base of Herefordshire and Midlands has a strong folk tradition. Many of the traditional songs and tunes collected by Vaughan Williams, Cecil Sharp and other great collators, have their root in the folk music traditions of Herefordshire and Midlands.
